Professor at the Section for Cinema Studies. I have previously held positions at the University of the Arts in Berlin (2001-2004) and at Ruhr University Bochum (2004-2009). I finished my PhD in 2005 at Humboldt University Berlin. Co-founded NECS - European Network for Cinema and Media Studies in 2006. Founding Member of the Media Industries Scholarly Interest Group at SCMS - Society for Cinema and Media Studies. Co-editor of Media Industries Journal and Montage AV: Zeitschrift für Theorie & Geschichte audiovisueller Kommunikation. Research Interests

I am interested in media and cultural history, technology and social theory, and especially in understanding the multi-faceted relations between “media” and “industries” in their broad historical, aesthetical, theoretical, and technological contexts. Research interests include production studies, distribution and infrastructures, digital research methods, screen markets and marketing, industrial/sponsored and advertising film, new cinema history.
