Fashion in translation - Augusta Lundin and the French Connection:

Augusta Lundin (1840-1919) was Swedens most prolific dress maker in the late 19th century. Her Couture House, situated in Brunkebergs Torg in the midst of Stockholm employed nearly 200 people. Despite the size and success of the firm, Lundins work has not yet been contextualised.

This thesis attempts to make a contribution to the wider understanding of some of the transnational aspects of the history of Haute Couture by describing the structures and practices of Lundins firm and by situating them it in the context of the expanding late19th century fashion markets.
