Organized Crime on the Agenda

Project

Duration: 2014 – 2017

Research Areas
Journalism, Media and Communication Studies

Description

The aim is to analyze the parliamentary debates and media representations of organized crime in Sweden since 1990, trying to understand how the current dominant view on organized crime emerged. The analysis is based on three case studies that in different ways and at different time periods have highlighted organized crime. The cases are: the ‘biker war’ in the mid-90s, trafficking in the early 00’s and shootings in Malmö in 2011.
