Florencia Enghel (Ph.D., Karlstad University, 2014) is a media and communication researcher. Her doctoral study, "Video letters, mediation and (proper) distance", which analyzes post-conflict international development communication intervention in the successor states to the former Yugoslavia, received the 2015 Doctoral Dissertation Award from the Swedish Association for Media and Communication Research. Her research project “The role of international media assistance in building democratic media systems in the Western Balkans: The view of local experts”, currently at the stage of data analysis, received a grant from Walhgrenska Stiftelse in September 2014. From 2010 to 2016 she served as Vice-Chair of the Participatory Communication Research Section of the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR). In 2015 she was appointed member of IAMCR's Clearinghouse on Public Statements.
